Proverbs 31:25 - Get excited about your future

Strength and honor are her clothing and she can laugh at the time to come…

In the past, I struggled a lot with worry and anxiety. 😩 I didn’t understand the power of going with the flow, being present, or controlling my thoughts - I was too focused on thinking about the future and everything that could go wrong. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Rewinding to early last year, I decided to read and truly study the book of Proverbs. I wanted to understand and gain more knowledge about wisdom. As I read the Proverbs 31 woman in my studies, I became very curious about how she presented and handled herself. I studied her for a few days, evaluating each verse, and of course, a few stuck out to me, but Proverbs 31:25 in particular.

Proverbs 31:25: Strength and honor are her clothing and she can laugh at the time to come…

Diving deeper into this verse and what it means, specifically the part of “she can laugh at the time to come”, it stated she smiles at the future, she does not spend her days in anxiety and worry

I know, I know! Same thing I said. 😅

I thought to myself, the key here is “smiling at the future,” and being focused on the things that get me excited in this thing called life. Sis get excited!

For me, this verse encouraged me to get excited about my future. There are so many things in store for each and every one of us - and sometimes when we are going through something, are in a waiting season, or when we start to lose hope and faith, we start speaking doubt and start to feel fear.

Let me remind you, just like I had to remind myself:  That your future is bright and to not give up! You are so close to your breakthrough! All the work you have been putting in is going to pay off. You may not see the full picture of where your energy and hard work are going, and to be honest, most of the time you will not see the full picture. BUT! Keep the faith and keep in mind that when you first started your journey, something pushed you to start, something pushed you to begin - please go back to what that “what was for you!” This is going to help you get excited about your future and also maintain the excitement of whatever you are waiting for.

Many of the women that I work with and speak with struggle with being anxious about their future. As you can see, I was one of those women too, and every day I am continuously putting in the work to maintain not being anxious.

Three questions that I reflect on and write about often are:

  1. What are my main goals in life?

  2. What is my progress so far?

  3. Am I further than when I first started my goal, what does my growth look like?

Doing these self-reflections has helped me change my mindset and reflect on my progress instead of what I think I am lacking.

See the thing that most of us don’t realize is that we are much much further than where we once were, but we can’t see that because we are focused on what we don't have instead of how far we have come.

I say all of this to say that when you think about your main goals in life and your progress, it is important that you maintain your excitement about achieving that main goal that you set for yourself.  Yes of course there may be some hardships to test your endurance, but if you have your WHY in front of you it will help you to keep going and motivate you to smile at your future.

When you get down, remember your why. When you don’t feel like getting excited, look at where you want to be in the future. Do something every day that is going to remind you to keep pushing to get excited.

Speak life into your future every single day, speak life to your goal or goals every single day, I have my goals in my Visions Guided-Journal and dining room area and it is part of my morning routine to say, “Hey good morning my goals, how y’all doing, I know you are growing every day making an impact….” like I am literally speaking life into them. I can not stress enough to speak life into what you want on a regular basis. Just like you have to water plants daily and make sure they are getting sunlight to help them prosper, you do the same thing to your goals and your future.

Get excited about your future, about the goals that you have set for yourself, and enjoy every step of your journey.

Affirmation: I love and honor my progress and I am excited about my future.
